The Digital Project Manager.

Feature
If you want To learn a little more about this subject, you may want to refer to the PMI studies, "The Project Manager of the Future”, “Developing Digital-Age Project Management” and “Skills to Thrive in Disruptive Times".   These three studies are the top drivers when it comes to successfully evolve an organization into the digital world of today (and tomorrow).   Skills, Training & Development. A Project Manager is expected more than ever to have the following skills (competences or knowledge);
  • Data analysis and analyse Big Data
  • Innovative thinking
  • Security, data protection and privacy
  • Legal & compliance
  • Data base decision making
  • Collaborative leadership
  How can one acquire these competencies? Through training and further education.   Tools & Methodology. Today, more than ever, I have digital support during the execution of my projects and tasks. Accordingly, I should know and use it. Why know it? It is because I could be confronted with it in my projects. Why use it? It is because I may be a role model for others in my role as a project manager. I may be able to advance the use of new collaborative platforms.   However, tools are not just IT tools like Gantter, Slack Or Sociabble but also the methodology. If a project includes an IT development component as its main task and Agile method is suitable for this development, then I should consider it. Here   is a tool that can help deal with this consideration. The various PMI resources can also help – above all the various "Considerations for agile/adaptive environments" in The PMBoK Guide.   Culture. To maximise the benefits that can be realised from digitisation (and conversely, not to lose touch), the right mindset is important including my own as well as the project team and ultimately the organization. Mindset is an attitude that one may have or can be developed. The problem is that not everyone develops at the same pace and some not at all. Moreover, one should not confuse mindset with one’s personal values and needs in relation to a particular situation as these change even less, if at all.   Here I should start with myself: What helps me to be open to today's digitised World? What stands in my way? How is my environment dealing with it?   As a Project Manager, of course, I cannot directly influence the cultural development of my company, because I am only one of many factors. However, in my role as an integration figure I can make my personal contribution that can be felt company-wide. In fact, I can influence the culture in my project which stems from the corporate culture.   And, well, I can continue to improve and develop myself.   By the way, you can find The entire report Here .
