Eight attended the virtual Stammtisch that was held using Microsoft Teams. The topic of discussion was “ Safety and Security”. Safety and security are measures taken to prevent people, establishments or things from harming or hurting an organisation or its assets / resources. Usually safety is for harm including that is the result of accidental or unintentional actions coming from within the organisation whereas security is for harm that is the result of intentional or unwarranted coming from outside the organisation. For example safety is a major concern and focus in the airline industry where a great deal of effort is expended in implementing appropriate procedures and staff training to minimise the risk of an accident. Also guidelines and procedures are in place to avoid loss of life and to minimise the impact resulting from an accident should one occur. Security is realised by implementing physical measures such intruder alarm and detection, access control and technical measures such back-up and restore procedures, data protection and virus detection and containment. Next Stammtisch will be virtual and held on Thursday 18th March 2021 starting at 19:30. The topic of discussion is “ Non-financial Quality Assessment of Project Managers”.
