The topic of discussion of the PMI Austria Chapter January 2020 Stammtisch was “
Project Communication”.
We discussed the merit and drawbacks of a number of available project management tools such as Slack, Trello, Jira, Confluence, Teams, Sharepoint, Microsoft Project and Primavera. Slack is similar to WhatsApp but offers more for cloud based messaging platform. Trello is a web-based application suitable for task tracking and the interface between it and Slack enables the linking of the two teams together making collaboration easier. Jira is suitable for software development projects and its interface with Confluence offers powerful and easy reporting facility. Sharepoint is very flexible but requires effort to set up and use effectively. Primavera is suitable for construction type projects.
Most commonly used team communication is Skype but others such as Go2Meeting and Webex also offer web conferencing and videoconferencing facilities.
Seven attended the Stammtisch that was held at Moghulhof, Burggasse 12, 1070 Vienna, a quiet and welcoming family run restaurant with good Indian cuisine.
Next Stammtisch will be held on
Thursday 20th February 2020 at a location to be chosen starting at 19:30. The topic of discussion is “
Waterfall / Agile Integration”.
