Not everybody working as a project manager has a PM certification and not everybody with a PM certification is working in this position. Therefore, we can see that it is not needed in all cases. However, it provides the ones who decide to go for the certification with a good understanding of the subject and tools to work in the field. It should also make applying for these positions easier as many companies are valuing PMP and looking for PMP holders.
