Lessons learned is a valuable part of project management that helps in areas such as risk management, planning and resource management.

In many companies lessons learned are collected and accessible for project managers. However, it also takes some effort in collecting, which can be done through several means, usually after the project has finished. In many cases, it has shown to be of some difficulty as project members by then will have been assigned to new projects. 

Another difficulty has been found in the way the lessons learned are presented. Often, to undestand these reports, a lot of time and effort has to be invested by people who have not been involved in the original project.
