There are several tools on the market to monitor and control processes. such as Jyra and EVA that have valuable features. In our project management experience, we found that such tools have to be configured to be useful for individual projects or different departments. As such configurations are often complicated to be made or difficult to achieve for a companywide used program, in practice project managers tend to go back to using excel sheets as it is the easiest and fastest solution. It was also interesting to discover that for some projects in construction it is important to know how many (kilo-) meters of street or tracks have been completed. A feature that couldn't be found in the simpler toolkits.
