Event-Rückblick: Englisch Speaking PMs Stammtisch September
Interne News
Six attended the Stammtisch that was held at the Acapulco Restaurant, Berggasse 30, 1090 Vienna. The topic of discussion was “
Knowledge Transfer”. Knowledge Transfer (KT) can broadly fall in one of two categories; for short term absence triggered by holidays etc. or long term triggered by resource or contractor change over. The short term KT is usually focussed and is limited in scope whereas the long term KT needs to be more comprehensive covering project scope and status, resources and timelines and issues and risks. Areas for optimisation or improvement may be referred to but are not within the scope of Knowledge Transfer per se. The KT process comprises four stages; Orientation / Onboarding, Mentoring. Supervising and Handover and Sign-off. During the Orientation / Onboarding stage the deliverer walks the recipient through the documentation so he/she becomes familiar with the tasks and resources in hand and the environment in which the project / task is being executed. In the Mentoring stage the deliverer performs the tasks as per usual whilst the recipient observes to gain an understanding of the task(s) being performed. In the Supervising stage the recipient carries out the tasks whilst the deliverer observes and corrects where necessary until the recipient becomes competent. In the Handover and Sign-off stage the deliverer plays no role in the task execution and the recipient confirms the completion of the Knowledge Transfer. The effectiveness of and the way the Knowledge Transfer is performed is greatly dependant on the culture of the organisation, level of available documentation and the chemistry of the people involved. The next Stammtisch will be and held on
Thursday 21st October2021 at a venue to be announced nearer the time starting at 19:00. The topic of discussion will be “
