The topic of ‘KPIs for PMOs’ can be viewed from two angles. One: The company sets KPIs to review a PMO’s performance. Two: KPIs are set for projects themselves to be reviewed by the PMOs. For our Stammtisch of PMs the second part was of more interest and we discussed the importance of indicators being reported such as conformity with schedule, budget, company strategy and how different projects compete for resources within a company.  Although there are different approaches to structure as some companies have PMOs for each department, while others work with a more loosely connected global PMO, they share some important functions, like providing templates and supporting the reporting of PMs. As project managers have a deeper knowledge of their own projects and some templates will likely have to be adapted, PMOs should be open for discussion and improvement of the same.  

The next Stammtisch will be held on Thursday 15th February 2024 at 19:00 at Restaurant Fromme Helene, Josefstädter Strasse 15/Lange Gasse 33, 1080 Vienna. The topic of discussion is “Monitoring and Control Processes”.
